Service to Community - Making Connections through OLLI at HSU in 2019

Have you ever considered offering a class for the community through OLLI?  Teaching for OLLI offers the opportunity to share your expertise and make direct connections with learners beyond the HSU campus. OLLI at HSU is a vibrant lifelong learning community with over 1300 members in our region. OLLI classes vary in length and presentation but usually consist of 4 to 12 hours of instruction without assessment or homework. Through the years I've found most faculty have a "favorite six hours" block of instruction. Those pockets of inspiration and passion make a perfect OLLI class!

What you need to know to support Muslim students this Ramadan 2019

For the first time in 10 years, Ramadan will fall within the academic school year and will continue to do so for the next 2 decades!

Ramadan will begin on Sunday, May 5th, when many universities have yet to finish for the summer. It can be a difficult month for many to get through, especially students who have to go through a normal school day without eating or drinking. For schools, it's important to provide an environment for students where they feel safe to practice their religion, but maybe more importantly, one that ensures their well-being during the school day.
