Sustainable Futures Speaker Series, Oct. 3

As part of the Sustainable Futures Speaker Series, Dr. David Pellow will present “Toward a Critical Environmental Justice -- Exploring State Violence in a Settler Colonial Context Energy.” The presentation will take place Thursday, October 3, at 5:30 p.m. in Founders Hall 118.

David N. Pellow is the Dehlsen Chair and Professor of Environmental Studies and the Director of the Global Environmental Justice Project at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Employee Onboarding Workshop - Thursday, September 19, 2019

Employees who are new to HSU or who move into a new position on campus benefit greatly when their onboarding experience is well-managed and meaningful. Research shows employees who are onboarded with intention and thoroughness are 58% more likely to stay in their jobs more than three years. This course will equip anyone with employee onboarding responsibilities with clear guidelines and best practices for onboarding new employees.

Let's Talk About the Middle East - Capernaum

For the next film in this semester's Let's Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh will be hosting a screening of Capernaum (2018).

A 12-year-old boy living in Beirut runs away from his neglectful family, commits a violent crime, and is consequently sentenced to years in jail. He chooses to sues his parents for the tumultuous life that he has had to endure. His story is telling of the traumatic experience of many immigrants and refugees living in political turmoil in the Middle East.
