Humboldt State Softball Announces Six Commitments

Humboldt State University head softball coach Shelli Sarchett has announced the signing of six future Lumberjacks to National Letters of Intent in Ashley Bowers, Brianna Brown, Annabelle Dixon, Michael Edwards-Gonzalez, Tristyn Guevera and Emma Vincent.

“Within the 2021 class, we were able to fill some spots that will be open in the next few years with athletic and versatile players,” said Sarchett.  “All these ladies are outstanding student-athletes with the right attitude that fits our family culture. All of them have a positive impact both on the field and in the classroom.”

 Ashley Bowers

C/1B

Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad High School

Bowers is a four-time Scholar-Athlete and a four-year letter-winner at Carlsbad High School.  She was named an All-American at the Colorado Sparkler Tournament in 2018.

Brianna Brown

Brentwood, Calif./Liberty High School

Brown earned Second Team All-BVAL honors this past season.  She also was named to the Honor Roll during her interscholastic career at Liberty High School.

 Annabelle Dixon

Pauma Valley, Calif./Valley Center High School

 Dixon also is a member of the tennis team at Valley Center High School. This past season, she was the captain of the softball tea. During the 2019 campaign, Dixon earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Dixon also was Second Team All-Conference and All-Region honoree during the 2018 season.

“Annabelle is the kind of kid that is going to work hard to improve every day and make a run for the starting position,” said Sarchett.

 Tristyn Guevera

Stockton, Calif./Bear Creek High School

 Guevera was a four-year varsity starter either at second base or catcher.  She earned Honorable Mention honors.   During the 2016, she was a member of the PGF National Platinum Championship Team. She was the 2016 PFG Shootout FloSoftball’s Defensive Player of the Tourney while her team placed third.

“I chose Humboldt State University because of the beautiful atmosphere.”  “Stepping on campus I could definitely see myself calling it my new home and playing ball here in a ultimate cherry on top. I felt an instant connection with Coach Shelli (Sarchett) which made it easy for me to make the immediate decision becoming a Lumberjack.”

 Michael Edwards-Gonzalez

Castro Valley, Calif./Bishop O’Dowd High School/Ohlone College

 Edwards-Gonzalez played this past season at Ohlone College, where she played in 21 games.  She had a .369 batting average while driving in 16 runs and scoring 12 runs.  Edwards-Gonzalez had 25 hits of which five were doubles and one was a triple.

 Emma Vincent

Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay High School

 Vincent was a First Team All-Conference honoree during her sophomore season and earned Second Team honors during her freshman season.  She is a two-time Scholar-Athlete Award recipient at Granite Bay High School.  Vincent finished in the top ten in batting average this past season.

“I chose HSU because I knew that I could see myself succeeding there academically and athletically.” “I could tell that this is a type of school where everybody knew everybody and that’s exactly what I was looking for.  I could also see that the softball team was the same, I could they were all a family.”
