Humboldt State Men’s Basketball Announces Two Mid-Year Signees

January 15, 2021

Humboldt State’s head men’s basketball coach Tae Norwood has announced two recruits that will be joining the Lumberjacks this month in Keshawn Hall and John Riddick.  These join the twelve newcomers to the team that Coach Norwood signed during the summer months in 2020.

Keshawn Hall

Hall comes to Humboldt State from Lake Oswego High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he graduated.  He also attended Cheyenne High School in Nevada where he was a First Team Nevada 3A All-State.  His other honors included Co-Most Valuable Player of the Nevada 3A All-Southern Region and the Nevada 3A Sunset League Most Valuable Player.  Besides his honors on the hardwood, Hall was a member of the National Honor Society in 2016-17 and 2018-19.

“KeShawn will provide added depth to the Point Guard position,” said Norwood.  “He is an exciting and fun player to watch. He is ultra-quick and fast with the ball and has the ability to make plays both in transition and in the half-court. KeShawn is selfless. He has a very good feel for the game and sees the floor extremely well. In its simplest form, he makes those around him better.”

 John Riddick

The 6-9 Riddick is transferring to Humboldt State from the University Texas at Tyler.  Before attending, UT-Tyler, Riddick went to Allan Hancock Junior College, where he was a teammate of current Lumberjack Gabrys Sadaunykas.

During the 2019-20 season at UT-Tyler, Riddick tied the school record for blocked shots in a single game.  In junior college, Riddick earned First Team All-Conference Honors and was the Western State Conference North Defensive Most Outstanding Player.  Riddick graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a member of the three-time State Championship Team.

“John is a great addition to our program,” noted Norwood.  “He is skilled and has great length and athleticism. His ability to blocks shots and protect the rim will be valuable in our full court pressure defense. John is a talented player who has a reputation for scoring around the basket and finishing plays with dunks. We are confident that John’s experience and toughness will be a great fit in our system.”
